Governing Body

The Governing Body ensures that our school keeps running at its best, and that teachers, parents and support staff act in the best interest of our children.

Kindly note that members of the Governing Body receive no financial compensation or perks and they serve in their personal capacity and time. Alongside our parents on the Governing Body, the school elects 3 staff members who serve on the Governing Body for a full term, to provide additional insight and expertise.

Tertia Linde
Treasurer

A proud mom of four beautiful children- all previously and still attending Melkbos Pre Primary school with great joy! I’ve always loved working with children and therefore did my HED in consumer science, B.Ed Honors in remedial education and my Masters degree in the Psychology of Education. I enjoyed working at schools as Remedial- and Play therapist for over 13 years. When my first child was born my real practical experience began😁and I am blessed to be able to spend so much precious time with them. I believe I would be an asset to the school regarding the fact that I’ve worked with teachers and parents as a professional- being able to understand the challenges that come with both. I have always had a high regard for emotional intelligence- seeing that it leads to positive feelings, such as happiness, pride, and enthusiasm, which in turn can lead to greater job satisfaction and productivity. Having said that- it would be an honour and a blessing to be part of the MPP team!

Riandi le Roux
Vice Chair and Secretary

It would be a privilege to serve on Melkbos Pre-Primary governing body. I was a Grade R teacher for almost 10 years at Melkbos Pre-Primary, thus MPP is family to me. I would be honoured to be involved and serve this amazing school of ours. We love Melkbos Pre-Primary, and we are beyond proud to be part of this school. I am motivated to be involved in fair decision making and strategic planning to promote the school and help it to continue flourishing and reaching new heights.

Maintaining the great quality of education at MPP and seeing it grow is very important to me and I would enjoy putting my skills to good use in this area. I am passionate about supporting staff members and the general functioning of the school. I have the school's best interest at heart, and I feel that I could contribute towards the continuous holistic development of our beautiful school. Being involved in education has always been my calling. I am excited to see what the future holds for MPP!

Campbell Lak
Projects

Hi, my name is Campbell Lak, I'm a mechatronic engineer and a proud parent at Melkbos prep school. I am eager to contribute to the Melkbos prep school governing body because I am deeply passionate about fostering an enriching educational environment for the little ones. Walking a journey with the school since 2014 has given me insight into the growth of the kids, teachers and school itself. I'm passionate about the school because I believe thatMelkbos Prep school is truly the best prep school in Cape Town. Being part of the governing body presents an opportunity to collaborate with fellow members, support the school leadership, and ensure that decisions are made with the best interests of the leaners in mind. I also want to offer my expertise in utilities and maintenance to the school and potentially push the school into a new realm of sustainability, looking at adding renewable energy and water storage, to make it easier for the school to offer the best education without any interruptions. I'm honoured to potentially be serving on the governing body and I will give my best to serve you the parents and support the teachers so that we can have the best future for our little ones.

Carin Rankin-Fisher
Chairperson

I am Carin Rankin-Fisher, a mom of 3 and an existing Governing Body member. I recently found out that serving another term on the Governing Body was possible and decided to make myself available to serve the school again. The main reason for this is to ensure continuity and progress as we are starting with a whole new Governing Body this year.

During my term, we developed and implemented several key initiatives including a new refreshed corporate identity and website as well as training of staff that included the development of a comprehensive operational training manual.

Several protocols like the Code of Conduct and WhatsApp protocols were also implemented. The adoption of a more formal HR process and appointment of an HR consultant has also enabled the principal to be more efficient with her time.

I want to make the most of my time left at the school as my youngest son has just started his 3-year journey here. I enjoy being involved and contributing to a governance team that values the well-being of personnel and looks out for the best interest of our children and school with an understanding of our role within the Melkbos community. I am a driven and dedicated person and I believe the school can benefit from my time, unique set of skills, and experience gained over the past 3 years.

Bruce Petersen
Buildings and Maintenance

My name is Bruce Petersen, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for accepting my nomination to be part of the governing body. I have seen the impact that Melkbos Pre Primary has had on our two children, one of whom is still at Melkbos Pre-Primary. I have seen the impact that the school has been to the community, there has only been great things that has been said about MPP. And it will only be an honour to serve on the governing body so that I too can be part of the change that is taking place in the lives of the young people. I believe the foundation phase of kids is very important, it sets the standard for the rest of their lives, teaching them to have good morals, discipline and seeing the value within themselves is important. And I’m very pleased that the kids still get taught Bible stories in the school. This is very encouraging, and something that is very close to my heart.
